Summary of this DVD...
(4/18/2005) I saw "Beverly Hills Cop III" in the theater and thought it sucked. In fact, I had such a low opinion of the movie that it took me all of 10 years just to sit down and try to watch it again. In all fairness, I can't say that it's a bad movie, just a misfire that fails to reach the insanely high expectations of the first 2 movies in the series. That's no worse than can be said for most other sequels ( for evidence, see: "American Wedding", "The Matrix Revolutions", "A Better Tomorrow III").
Personally, I think what was lacking in this movie, aside from John Ashton's perpetually grumpy Sgt. Taggart, was Harold Faltermeyer's driving synthesizer score. At the point in time this movie was made... ok, sure, synthesizer music had pretty much gone the way of the dodo. However, I think if Faltermeyer had been given a shot at coming up with something new, maybe some of the fun feeling that is so prevalent in the first two BHC movies would have trickled down into this one, at least musically speaking.
