This is an anthology of the best American poetry put out every year by Schribner Poetry. The series editor is David Lehman and the guest editor is Charles Wright. This series has been put out since 1988 and is the most popular yearly anthology of American poetry.

I found most of the poetry better than the general selection of poetry published by academics in journals.

Almost all of the poets are college instructors.

Charles Wright has won the Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award, Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize and Griffin Poetry Prize. He is a full professor at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville.

It is an excellent anthology of good current American poetry.
