Summary of this Book...
Asakawa is a journalist who has worked his way up from local-news reporter to writer for his newspaper's weekly magazine. Being a chronic workaholic, he doesn't really notice when his seventeen-year-old niece dies suddenly -- until a chilling conversation reveals that another healthy teenager died at exactly the same time, in almost identical circumstances. Thinking he can get a story, Asakawa begins to investigate, and soon discovers that this strange simultaneous sudden-death syndrome also affected another two teenagers. 7 days before, the four teenagers had spent the night at a log cabin. The clues lead asakawa to the log cabin, where he discovers a strange video tape that carries a portentous message at the end: Those who have viewed these images are fated to die at this exact hour one week from now.
Its a race against time for asakawa, 7 days to figure out a way to save himself and protect his family. But can he really beat the ring curse?
This type of Book is good for...
Horror, mystery, suspense, intrest
I especially liked...
I liked....the writing style in general, the unique character personalitys.

Suzuki payed special attention with the characters and how you emphasize with them. For instance, I took an instant liking to Ryuji at first- even though I despised his personality. When reading Ring you start feeling frightened for the characters.
I also thought Suzuki's writing style was good, it has the vital hook. After picking up this book I couldn't put it down. There is also plenty of twists and the story always keeps you guessing untill the very end. It is written greatly.
I didn't like...
I didn't like...how the book played on my mind for a while after reading.

The images produced in my mind after reading Ring stuck with me for a while. When turning some pages I literally shuddered, it is like the book has an atnosphere. Even though I agree this is a rare talent with writers, It did play on my mind a little more than I would have wanted it to.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
After reading I wanted to...buy the next book - spiral by Koji Suzuki..

...and so I did.

This Book made me feel...
This Book made me feel terrfied. Its even better than the film in so many ways!!

I got this book simply because I had seen the film Ringu (and both american remakes). Since the book is usally better than the film, I considored buying it. In many parts it was better than the film but in rare cases it lacked what the film could make you feel.
The author of this Book...
Koji Suzuki, born May 13 1957 in Hamamatsu, Japan. Koji is the author of the ring cycle, a book series that has inspired five films, tv series, manga, film remakes, radio plays and video games. Suzuki claims that he has no interest in horror, and usually writes romance books. Where as fans claim that he is amongst the best horror writers of his genre.
I recommend this Book because...
If your a fan of horror, you'll love this. If your a fan of mystery books, you'll love this. If you own a VCR, you'll love this!
It should be in any horror fan's book collection.

But this book doesn't only appeal to horror fans. My mother read it after I had finished and she loved it. After reading she was begging me to borrow more Suzuki books. I thought this was strange since she thought the Ringu mythology was rather far fetched and depressing.

Read it, give it a try. If you get to the second part and you still don't like it- then give it up.
I don't recommend this Book because...
If you wanted to read about the film version of Sadako, (where she has hair over her face and comes out of the TV), then this isn't the book for you. In many ways it dissapointed me. Sadako's image (and way of killing) was the only thing that terrified me when watching the film. I feel that the book is "toned down" compared to the film.
