A troubled teenager suffers from paranoid schizophrenia and a bad case of sleepwalking. When he sleepwalks to a golf course in the middle of the night, a 6-foot tall bunny rabbit passes on an ominous message: 28 days....six hours....42 minutes....12 seconds. That is when the world will end. While outside, a jet engine crashes into his house and lands in his room. Feeling obligated, Donnie does whatever Frank tells him, including breaking a water main in his highschool and vandalizing the mascot. As the days tick away, Donnie meets a girl and a relationship flowers as the relationship with his family and faculty at his high school slowly deteriorate.

The musical arrangements. It really helped give an air of madness.

Smile. Even if the ending is not necessarily the happiest, it's quite beautiful.

Inspired. Anyone with a slump will find the music and the basic principles absolutely inspiring.

is golden. One of Jake Gyllenhaal's best performances to date, along with Drew Barrymore and Beth Grant. Also starring Noah Wyle, Jena Malone, Patrick Swayze, and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
