Summary of this Book...
Druid Quest by Cornelia Amiri. Earthling Press. 2008.

Here we have another great offering from author Cornelia Amiri.

This story takes place during the Roman invasion of Celtic lands, with 61 AD Britannia given as the dateline.

In this tale, Druidess Sulwen has escapes the Roman attack on the Celtic fort Ynys Mon, and is making her way to the Celtic army being led by Queen Boudica, to whom she needs to deliver a message from the Gods themselves. She knows she will also find her chosen mate Rhys, Archdruid of the Iceni tribe with Queen Boudica.

Sulwen travels across the countryside with guards given to her by other tribes she meets along the way. When she finally does meet up with the Queen and her band of warriors, she soon learns she and Rhys are at odds of how the battle should proceed, and Sulwen fears their failure is eminent.

Because she loves Rhys and he is her Elder, Sulwen must go along with his wishes, and soon the outcome is decided, as the Iceni is tribe is all but destroyed, save for the queen and her two princess daughters.

Rhys has accepted his fate of becoming a sacrifice to the Gods to ensure the safety of his Queen and her daughters, but Boudica decides his life should be spared in order to take care of her children, and she herself becomes the sacrifice instead.

Rhy and Sulwen become the care takers of the two princesses and lead them into the snow covered mountains of Eryri.

Cornelia, once again, gives us characters we care and mourn for, and rejoice with when destiny and fate finally give them much needed moments to live for.

This is a touching and beautifully sad story about the last battles of Queen Boudica and her sacrifice to save her daughters and their tribe. It is coupled with the romance and love of Sulwen and Rhys and their dedication to ensuring the survival of the Celtic race.
