Summary of this Book...
This would be one of those books that kind of threw me off. I’m not sure what the actual point of it was. The title fits somewhat, but it definetly wasn’t the “how to” I was expecting. Instead, this book is made up of dozens of essays, interviews with the author, and other tidbits of information --- which is fine, but I would have liked some advance warning. The title makes it sound more like a “how to” or a guide, not a collection of narratives. There isn’t any real structured order to how these chapters are laid out and topics jump around. I’m not even sure if they should be considered chapters since they are not really neccessary sections of the overall book, but essays that could and do stand all on their own. Although I did find some of these essays interesting, others were downright confusing, and I have no idea why they were included, other than to add more pages to the book. Some of these would have made great magazine articles, this just did not seem the proper form for them. Although, if the book had been titled something like, “The Writings of Jess Wolf Hardin” it all would have fit together much better.
