Summary of this DVD... | ||
This is the second season of the highly acclaimed show on AMC about advertising men in the early 1960's. This season skips forward in time from 1960 to 1962, well into the Kennedy presidency. Lots of things are going on in the world, including the cold war and the Civil Rights movement.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who saw and enjoyed the first season of Mad Men.
I especially liked... | ||
the fact that there is a back story to the characters and I find things out about Don and Peggy that make things more clear about their characters.
I didn't like... | ||
the whole trip to L.A. I thought that was a dumb plot device that didn't accomplish a whole lot, but I am open to the fact that I might see things in Season 3 that clarify just like Season 2 did for a lot of things in Season 1.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
watch the 3rd Season. I bought Season 2 at a used book place for credits and liked it so much that I ordered Season 3 from Amazon.com. I think it is a bargain at the $17.99 price I paid for it.
This DVD made me feel...
like I was back in the 1960s and experiencing it along with the characters.
The cast of this DVD... | ||
is excellent, especially Jon Hamm. His performance as Don Draper sort of sneaks up on you. Colin Hanks is great as Peggy's nosey priest.
I recommend this DVD because...
it is far better than most of what is on network TV. These scripts are actually coherent and show me that a lot of thought went into the writing of this show. I was slow to get into it, but now I am hooked.
Further Comments... | ||
Season 2 is much much better than Season 1. I was ambivalent about continuing to watch but so many things were clarified that it made it a must see for me. I got the 2nd season for credits at a used book store and unlike Season 1, which I took months to watch, I watched Season 2 in a week. It is that good and that action packed, with the exception of the L.A. part towards the end.
