This is a book about Obama's planning and developing a strategy for dealing with Iraq, Afghanistan, and most important of all, Pakistan.

anyone who wants to know how decision making was hatched in the White House over the troop escalation in Afghanistan.

understanding something about President Obama that I did not understand before. That something is that he is fixated on not being George Bush and not being L.B.J. vis a vis Vietname. What I didn't fathom is what he is for. I think he overreacts to negative things he doesn't want to be instead of having a clear vision.

that guy Tom Donilon from Fannie Mae who was just promoted to National Security Adviser. He doesn't have to be confirmed by the Senate and that is one guy that I have my doubts about. He is hard working, but not in the corner of the military.

read about decision making on other things. This book is very focused on Pakistan and it made a scary case.

worried about Pakistan more than anything. Pakistan, according to this book, knows where Bin Laden and Mullah Omar are, yet they help them hide. So, like the Saudis, they play both sides of the fence. Not good.

had full access and did a thorough job.

it was interesting reading for the most part. I came away with more admiration for General Petraeus and Hilary Clinton than anyone else.
