Summary of this Video Game...
Red Alert 3 is a continuation of the Command and Conquer Red Alert series. The storyline takes place in an alternate timeline where the Allies time travel is prevented by the Soviets as they erase the creator of the time machine from history. Through this fold in the timeline, the Japanese forces known as The Empire of the Rising Sun comes to power with their anime/sci-fi inspired weaponry (transformer tanks, giant robots, ninjas, samurais).
This type of Video Game is good for...
Command and Conquer or other RTS gaming fans.
I especially liked...
The graphics are really good but my computer's video card isn't the best therefore I can't play it at its full potential. I liked how each faction's "commando" unit is female. It's nice to see more powerful female characters. I also liked how they went back to the more traditional building and unit creation system unlike that of Generals and Zero Hour. I also like the online co-op feature where you can play any of the campaign missions with someone else.
I didn't like...
The representation and sexualization of female characters. The commando units are usually male in the previous games (with the exception of Tanya and Black Lotus etc) and they are all female in this one which I think is a nice change. Female characters (combat and non combat related) though are represented like sex symbols. I am sure many people bought this game just to see the hot girls (feel free to Google "women of Red Alert 3"). The game also comes with a little poster of "women of Red Alert 3" in their "sexy" poses. In my opinion it makes the whole game feel a lot less serious than the previous Command and Conquer titles. I won't even go into the "bonus features" of Red Alert 3 Uprising. Now if you could excuse my feminist views for a second.
When I finished playing this Video Game I wanted to...
I'm not quite sure actually. Probably play more of the more popular games out there lately as I hope to be getting a new video card for my computer.
This Video Game made me feel...
Hard to say. Didn't really get hooked on it, but don't really hate it either. Some missions can be quite frustrating especially if you're playing alongside an AI co-commander.
The creator of this Video Game...
I know many people think that EA ruined Command and Conquer since they bought over Westwood Studios. I can't completely comment on that other than the fact that I do like the "post 2003" Command and Conquer titles better. Although I must admit the graphics of Red Alert 3 are very similar to Warcraft and Starcraft (don't play those games myself, but seen them being played).
I recommend this Video Game because...
If you like Command and Conquer or any RTS games you will probably like Red Alert 3. I would recommend you play Red Alert 1 (available for free download from EA) and Red Alert 2 if you haven't yet in order to understand the storyline better. If you are a fan of anime and other Japanese media, you'd like Red Alert 3 as well.
I don't recommend this Video Game because...
Refer to "I didn't like" section.
Further Comments...
I've been playing Command and Conquer on and off since I was about 6 when my dad taught me how to play. I've always enjoyed it as much as if not more than the Age of Empires series. Post-Westwood Command and Conquer titles are substantially different than the Westwood creaed ones.
