Summary of this Book...
This is a generational novel about relationships that revolves around visits to a family beach compound in Maine. I am familiar with the setting and with big Irish families and the pain they can inflict on each other. This novel follows the matriarch, Alice, her daughter Kathleen, Kathleen's daugher, Maggie and Alice's daughter in law, Ann Marie.
This type of Book is good for...
anyone who enjoys good reading with a nice setting.
I especially liked... | ||
the character of Maggie. To me, she was the most likeable and realistic. I also like the priest.
I didn't like... | ||
Kathleen's predictability. I also didn't like the ending. A lot of things are left hanging for me. I know an ending can be the hardest part, but this one just drifted. I wanted some sort of resolution (more than I got) for Alice.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
check out the writer's other book. I think it is called The Commencement or Commencement.
This Book made me feel...
sad in the end. I wanted to see what would happen with Maggie and Gabe.
The author of this Book...
knows how to tell a good story that is funny and sad. She knows how to get you interested in the characters.
I recommend this Book because...
it was entertaining - I was never bored reading it, but the ending did leave me hanging. I didn't like that too much. The writing is very good.
