Summary of this Book...
A "radical" new translation is right! The author's text disagrees with many a contentious passage in the King James and other Bibles. To give just two of dozens of such examples: The Greek word, "tekton", covers a hundred crafts and professions. Matthew tells us that Joseph was a "tekton". That means he has a 1% chance of being a carpenter. The author feels that Joseph was more likely a potter and quotes Scriptures in support of this hypothesis. Secondly, Jesus states in chapter 25 that some people are headed for heaven, some for "kolasis" and some for "timoria". Almost all translators incorrectly assume that both these Greek words mean punishment. They don't! "Timoria" means punishment; but "kolasis" means rehabilitation. So what Jesus actually says is that on Judgment Day, some people will head for heaven, others will be sent to a rehabilitation center, and others to a place of eternal punishment.
This type of Book is good for...
all who wish to understand what Jesus really did and actually said.
I especially liked... | ||
the point the author makes in chapter 26. The Greek word, "aphesis" does not mean "forgive". What the Bible really says is that God does not forgive sins, He forgets them. He totally expunges our sins from His memory. He does not call them to mind, because He cannot do this. Our sins do not exist any more. They never happened! And that's what Jesus actually says in chapter 26.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
read it over again and again!
This Book made me feel...
wanted. God loves me, and is prepared not only to forgive me but to totally forget everything I've done wrong.
The author of this Book...
views the Gospel from an entirely new perspective. He sets down what Matthew actually wrote, instead of merely repeating or re-wording the mistranslations of the past.
I recommend this Book because...
it is really inspiring. To paraphrase Jesus, if you know the truth, the truth will set you free!
