Summary of this Book...
In this second book of the Dexter series (the basis for the successful HBO television show), Dexter finds his alter ego, the Dark Passenger, stifled. He can't do as he pleases, and Dexter spends the majority of the book trying to appear "normal" by spending evenings with his girlfriend and her kids, all the while helping his sister track down a brutal serial killer.
This type of Book is good for...
Fans of the show or those who have read the first Dexter book (Darkly Dreaming Dexter) will enjoy reading this one.
I especially liked... | ||
It was really interesting to read Dexter's attempts at being "normal" and his thoughts on social norms and behaviors. I especially liked reading his views on children, as he feels a confusing attachment to them.
I didn't like... | ||
To be honest, I started reading this book because I wanted to read about bad guys getting punished. Why else do we read/watch Dexter? So I couldn't help feeling a little disappointed that he couldn't do his thing in this book.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
continue the series. Surely, Dexter's Dark Passenger gets to shine in the next one, right?
Further Comments... | ||
In the end, it made sense to show Dexter in a domesticated "normal" setting. I commend the author on changing things up, as I'm sure readers would expect each book to be similar to the first. This book showed a whole different side to Dexter!
