Summary of this Book...
A veterinarian, Dr. Lorna Polk, is called in when a fishing trawler wrecks in the swamps of Louisiana. The ship carried exotic animals which soon turn out to be genetic experiments. Dr. Polk, along with U.S. Border Patrolman Jack Menard (with whom she shares a dark past) try to discover the truth behind the strange animals, while those responsible for them try to cover it up.
This type of Book is good for...
If you're looking for one of those "guilty pleasure" thrillers, this is it! It doesn't always make perfect sense, and can seem unrealistic (and even silly) at times, but it holds the reader's interest throughout.
I especially liked... | ||
I loved the science aspect of the book, particularly the passages on fractals. I also liked the setting of the book. I love reading about Louisiana for some reason. I find the culture to be very interesting.
I didn't like... | ||
Every male "villain" in the book was portrayed as a rapist. I didn't like the over-generalization and the feeling like that's all the author could come up with to make a reader dislike a male character.
This Book made me feel...
entertained. I love reading books with great depth and a good theme/message, but from time to time, I want to get lost in a thriller. That's what this book was for me.
