Summary of this Book...
This is an Inspector Lynley Mystery. It involves the murder of a famous cricket player. He is inolved with three women, a mentor, his estranged wife and his mistress. Playing for the Ashes refers to a tradition of famous cricket matches between England and Australia. Since the victim is killed by arson, ashes also refer to the result of the fire. There is a third set of ashes involved in the plot.
I didn't like... | ||
the fact that this took me more than a month to read. I finally had to skim to get through it. It was a disappointment as all the other books by Elizabeth George have been very good.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
read something by another author or ten before I return to the Inspector Lynley series.
This Book made me feel...
disgusted with one of the main characters and her behavior towards her father. I couldn't get past it and it colored the whole reading experience.
The author of this Book...
didn't do a very good job with this one. The characters are not likeable. I still like The Inspector and Sgt. Havers, but the other characters in this one were horrid.
I recommend this Book because...
I did not feel like it was a good reading experience. I would skim the whole thing if I had to do it over again. The ending was not satisfying, in the least.
