Summary of this DVD... | ||
This is the story of a family that loses its male heir in the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. Lord Crawley has 3 daughters and no sons so the estate is set to go to his nearest male heir, a cousin who lives in Manchester with his mother. Lord Crawley's oldest daugher, Mary, was set to marry the cousin who perished in the sinking of the Titanic, but she didn't love him, so the family's sights and fortunes are shifted to find her a new man, preferably the cousin from Manchester. He is moved with his mother to a nearby cottage to get used to the idea of being the male heir who will either dislodge the daughters or marry one of them. The Crawley's live in a HUGE house with scores of servants. There is a lot of intrigue between the servants vying for better positions and better lives as the country moves towards women's rights and war with Germany.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who enjoys a good period drama with great characters with a lot of intrigue.
I especially liked... | ||
Hugh Bonneville as Lord Crawley and Brendan Coyle as John Bates. But, the whole cast is terrific.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
watch Season 2! | ||
This DVD made me feel...
like I was back in time and enjoying all the intrigue.
The cast of this DVD... | ||
is excellent. Maggie Smith is hilarious as Lord Crawley's mother. I still remember her in the Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.
I recommend this DVD because...
it is awesome. My husband, who does not like period pieces is hooked on it.
Further Comments... | ||
I cannot wait for Season 2 to arrive later on this week!
