Summary of this Book...
This is the autobiography of Ted Sorenson. He was Special Counsel to John F. Kennedy while he was President and a trusted aide and Speechwriter to Kennedy for more than a decade. He is credited (wrongly) with being the author of Profiles in Courage and many of Kennedy's finest speeches. This book sets the record straight on just how fine a writer JFK really was. I sort of think that Sorenson's life was pretty much over when JFK was assasinated.
This type of Book is good for...
anyone interested in an insider's view of the Kennedy White House.
I especially liked... | ||
the stuff about Jackie Kennedy. She didn't take a lot of stuff from anyone, including Sorenson. Good for her!
I didn't like... | ||
the non-JFK stuff. I was more interested in Sorenson's take on JFK and not on Sorenson himself. I do not find him particularly interesting or inspiring. He's too partisan and not fair to the other side in some of his observations.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
read more about this historical time.
The author of this Book...
died shortly after this book was published.
Further Comments... | ||
I do not think this book was particularly informative about JFK. It is more informative about Ted Sorenson, but since it is his autobiography I guess that is to be expected. He's only interesting to me in his relationship to JFK.
