This is a vintage 1937 movie with Joan Crawford and Spencer Tracy. A hardworking woman supports her parents and brother while the father and brother lay around doing nothing. She gets tired of that and marries her boyfriend, who, as it turns out, is the same kind of guy - he wants her to work and he wants to do as he pleases. She works as a model (thus the title Mannequin). Right after she married her stupid boyfriend, she meets a hardworking millionaire (played by Tracy) who falls for her and pursues her.

Tracy is wonderful - Crawford is too old and not believable in the part, but I still enjoyed the movie.

anyone interested in Spencer Tracy circa 1937. He was quite cute.

there is a social commentary about men who depend on "relief" and send their women out to work. It still happens today too much. This shows what it can do to the women involved and how repulsive the men become when they depend on the government for their survival when they are otherwise able-bodied.
