Summary of this DVD... | ||
The plot is cute. A pretty girl goes with her fiance on a trip to Verona. (the plot reminded me of Midnight in Paris with a reversal of the sexes). Her fiance is a chef who is preoccupied with food preparation so he ignores her. She goes to Juliet's balcony where she finds that women right letters about their lovelives and attach them to the wall. A group of local women answer the letters that are written "to Juliet". A stone falls out of the wall revealing a 50 year old letter. This girl answers it and follows it up by trying to find the love of a woman who is in her 70's. She has a problemmatic grandson. You can probably guess who falls for whom.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who enjoys a cute romantic comedy.
I especially liked... | ||
Franco Nero. He will always be Vanessa Redgrave's Lancelot to me.
I didn't like... | ||
and have never liked Vanessa Redgrave. I did not care for Amanda Seyfried and Christopher Egan either. If the casting had been different, this would have been more memorable. A lot of young actors and actresses confuse posing with acting. Vanessa Redgrave was always like that so they fit in well with each other to make a frothy and forgetable romantic comedy. If Amy Adams had been cast as Sophie, you might have had something here.
I recommend this DVD because...
because it is a cute story even though it is a weak weak cast. The scenery is lovely.
