Summary of this DVD... | ||
Two American women singers take a cruise to Europe. One is obsessed with marrying a rich man and the other is attracted to poor guys. The women are portrayed by Marilyn Monroe as Lorelei Lee(at her height of beauty, which is quite something) and Jane Russell as Dorothy. Jane Russell cannot hold a candle to Monroe, so that made this movie sort of problemmatic for me. But it is cute and it has that song in it about Diamonds being a girl's best friend, which is worth watching because it is so iconic.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who wants to see Marilyn Monroe light up the screen. The movie has some funny stuff in it too. Monroe is always at her best when she does comedy with children.
I especially liked... | ||
the scene where Monroe is stuck in the porthole and the little kid helps her out. Very funny!
I didn't like... | ||
the dumb ending, but that's just me. I didn't like the two guys they ended up with - they were a couple of wax looking guys, but this is the fifties so I guess that passed for handsome then.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
watch more old movies. | ||
This DVD made me feel...
like I wanted to sing along and so I did.
The cast of this DVD... | ||
really takes a back seat to Marilyn Monroe. There is nothing like the way she lights up a movie. Jane Russell just isn't in the same league, although she is a good singer and pretty good dancer. They harmonized well together.
I recommend this DVD because...
if you are like me and are sick of politics and the news you will like to go back in time and lose yourself in old movies. That is something I enjoy and it keeps my blood pressure nice and low.
