Summary of this DVD...
"IT" is based on one of my favorite horror books of all time by Stephen King. Even though the made for T.V movie came out on DVD in 2002, the book came out in 1986. I remember reading this book after I had surgery, and I absolutely could not put it down! I was happily surprised by how closely the movie stuck to the book. A group of misfit kids, befriend each other in the 60's. Together they discover the truth of what lies beneath the town of Derry, Maine. An evil clown who feeds on children. The missing kids take on a personal loss, when one of the kids brother goes missing. That's when they decide to band together to rid the evil clown from Derry, forever. After seemingly success, they promise each other that they come back, no matter what, if Pennywise the clown, ever returns. Fast forward to all of the kids from the Loser's Club, now adults. They have all moved away, but one. All are highly successful, but the lone one who stayed in Derry. Pennywise returns and so do the adults - all forgetting about Pennywise in their adult years. When they all come together, memories come flooding back, along with sightings for each of them of Pennywise the Clown. The pace slows a bit toward the end, but the movie is still a good one and holds the viewer's attention. Relationships are formed, broken and formed again. The chemistry from all of the actors is superb. Both the group of kids and the group of adults.
This type of DVD is good for...
Teenagers and adults. I wouldn't let younger children watch it. I find the rating of PG13 appropriate.
I especially liked...
What truly creeped me out is when Pennywise (played by Tim Curry) peeks out from under the drainage and says, "Oh yes, Georgie, they float. They all float down here, and when you're down here, you'll float too!" Creepy!
I didn't like...
The few times toward the end, when it dragged a bit and almost lost its way. But it quickly recovers and gets back on track.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
Stay away from drainages, caves- anything leading underneath.
This DVD made me feel...
Creeped out, with chill bumps.
The cast of this DVD...
Star Studded!Henry Anderson (Richie Tozer), Dennis Christopher (Eddie Kaspbrak), Richard Masur (Stan Uris), Annette O' Toole (Beverly Marsh), John Ritter (Ben Hascom), Tim Reid (Mike Hanlon), and Richard Thomas as (Bill Denbrough)
I recommend this DVD because...
For all Stephen King Fans and fans of horror.
I don't recommend this DVD because...
If you're not a horror or Stephen King fan
Further Comments...
I believe the quote from Pennywise the Clown, which I stated above, is one of the best delivered and well known lines in the horror genre.
