Summary of this Book...
Yelena is a food taster. Or at least she was until she found out she could use magic. Because of it she was banished from Ixia where magicians are not allowed and sent to the land of Sitia. There she unites with her long lost family and trains to use her magic. But all does not go as planned. Her brother wants to kill her, a crazy prince is trying to claim the thrown of Ixia, and a rogue magician, is stealing souls to gain power. To make matters worse, Yelena is using a type of magic that no one can explain, and it's dangerous. She makes enemies everywhere she goes, but she is not without the help of a few faithful friends. Trusty Valek is always around and popping out of the shadows to come to Yelena's rescue, but when will Yelena stop being so lucky? This is the second book of the Study Series written by Maria V. Snyder. While Magic Study can stand on it's own, I would recommend reading Poison Study (the first book of the series) first.
