Summary of this Book...
Many Waters by Madeline L'Engle

I sometimes escape from life with Madeline L'Engle's Time Quintet.

The four books in this fantasy series have a theme of good versus evil and good wins.

I created the product reviews for these four books during NanoWrimo 2014. Creating them and writing them are not the same thing. When I started the actual writing, Many Waters moved to the top of this list for me.

I chose Many Waters as the first of my product reviews for these Madeleine L'Engle books because, although I like them all, it is my favorite.

Madeleine L'Engle had written a "Time Trilogy" and then came back and added this fourth book to the series.

The main characters in this book are the twins Sandy and Dennys. (It took me forever before I realized Dennys was an alternate spelling for Dennis.) They had been minor characters in the previous three books about this family. In this book, they are on their own. No Meg, no Charles Wallace, no Mom, no Dad -- on their own in a different time -- a pivotal time in history.

So why is this my favorite of this series of books? It is my favorite because it is firmly based on the Old Testament of the Bible. It contains the story of Noah and the flood. It contains Seraphim and Nephilim. I did not pay any attention to the existence of these creatures in the Bible until after I read Madeleine L'Engle's book. I then looked for them in the Word of God and there they were.

Of course, L'Engle's story adds the fictional component and lots of imagination as well but I do indeed find it fascinating.

Her other fantasy books deal with good and evil but this one brings to life a Bible story.

Noah's father is in the story. In L'Engle's story, Noah has two daughters who do not get to get on the ark. One good gentle, kind daughter and another daughter who has sort of strayed.

We are with the twins when they realize they are in the story of the flood and do not know what will happen to them.

It is fun to read. It is one of those books I like to lose myself in. It is also thought provoking.

It drove me back to my Bible and to the story of Noah and the ark. I wanted to read that story again and see what was there in the original and what L'Engle added and expanded upon.

I have read it many times. The book is like an old friend. Writing about it makes me want to read it again.

Usually, when I read it, it is in one sitting. I find it the most uplifting book in L'Engle's Time series.
Further Comments...
I am using this comment section to explain how I am doing these product reviews - how and why.

I created this review on November 28, 2014. I was participating in Nano as a Nano Rebel. My project for November 2014 was writing reviews and product reviews here on writing.com.

Up until November 28th, I had been writing reviews and it has been a blast. I hope the folks receiving the reviews enjoyed getting them as much as I enjoyed writing them (for the most part).

Writing reviews is a bit time consuming when you are facing a deadline. I started NanoWrimo 2014 late. Then, even after I started, I had troubles in the real world and did not get to write every day. I am quite far behind. I am still wanted to reach my goal of 50000 words.

To do that, these last three days I wrote product reviews. I used Swype to enter these reviews using my Kindle or my phone. I did not have a computer at that time and the library was closed for Thanksgiving.

I was new to using Swype but it helped me reach my goal. It did sometimes put in the wrong word. In the interest of getting as many words a possible, I did not make corrections until after the end of Nano.

UPDATE: I did reach my goal in 2014.
