The Bible: The Epic Miniseries Product Type: DVD As a Christian I was excited to hear about the mini-series about the Bible my children and grandchildren were watching on TV. My excitement was short-lived. Although this mini-series is thought-provoking, I can not whole-heartedly recommend it. In the first place, although it is basically scripturally accurate, it does stray a bit and it also leaves out some very pivotal Biblical episodes. One of my biggest objections is that it also displays entirely too much violence. We found it to contain too much violence to be appropriate for family-viewing with younger children. Actually, the violence (while possibly an accurate representation) was more than most of the adults in my family could handle. I believe the events could have been conveyed accurately but less graphically and still educated and informed the films audience. I almost felt as though the creators of the film were a bit anti-God and actively trying to besmirch His Name. As it stands, small children would be traumatized watching it. Watching it does educate viewers. So many folks have never read the entire Bible. There were things included in the film they might not have known before. I still don't understand why the major Bible stories that we know about were not included in this miniseries. | ||
