The prequel to Tolkien's Lord of The Rings trilogy; The Hobbit introduces a young Biblo Baggins, Gandalf the Grey and the geography of Middle Earth. Biblo and a dozen dwarf companions - lead by the dauntless Thorin Oakenshield - and, sometimes, accompanied by Gandalf, seek the treasure hoard lost within the Lonely Mountain and guarded by the dragon Smaug. Originally written as a children's novel, The Hobbit is certainly easier reading than LOTR, but it is,typically of its time, still weighty for its intended readership. Good fun though. Time to journey There and Back Again. | ||
