Odd (his real name) Thomas is a young fry cook who lives in Pico Mundo, California. The odd thing about him is that he can see the dead, and he sees them exactly the way they died, be it bloody, mutilated, etc.

He also gets visits from Elvis, although he doesn't know what he wants from him. Odd sees shadow creatures, or Bodachs, as he calls them, just before a deadly situation happens. The more Bodachs, the more people will die. They are there to enjoy the show, and the Odd can tell how close the countdown to terror is by how excited the Bodachs are.

His true love, Stormy Lewellyn, who knows about his powers, is murdered, caught in the midst of gunfire.

This story has humor and sadness, but Odd's sarcastic observations are hilarious.

Fans of Dean Koontz. This is him at his best.

The mix of suspense, mystery and humor.

I couldn't wait to read the next in the series.

Like I found my new favorite series.

Dean Koontz is a great author. In my opinion he is much better than Stephen King, and I would choose his books any day over King.

Its funny, suspense-filled, with twists and turns throughout. It is awesome.
