The first full length album from Acrassicauda, a band of four Iraqi refugees who came to America in 2006 to escape persecution. Last summer they raised money on Kickstarter to start production of their first full length album since their EP was very successful in 2010. They raised the money and started production in late August 2014.

Gilgamesh is an awesome first album. Like in literature, Gilgamesh tells tales of struggles, overcoming the struggles, and how to grow from these struggles. The guitar riffs, the melodies, and the drum beats really sweep listeners and one can feel the emotion in the album.

Acrassicauda is a heavy metal band and Gilgamesh is heavy metal gold. There are a few "soft" songs, but even those soft songs deliver heavy metal impact. Acrassicauda does not disappoint in their first full length album - they have grown from their EP.

How they incorporated Arabic into their songs. As someone who studies and continues to learn the Arabic language, I really loved that. I loved how some verses were in Arabic and other verses were in English.

There were some very short instrumentals between some of the songs. I love Iraqi music, especially the instruments that come from Iraq, I wish those instrumentals were longer!

Even if you're not a fan of heavy metal, the way the songs are written, you won't feel like it's heavy metal-ish. They also experiment with music, which gives the album a different feel than full blown heavy metal.
