Meteor never gets picked to go into outer space. It's always the bigger mice who get chosen. Everyone is surprised when Meteor is finally selected for the important mission. And he proves that being small has its benefits.

This is a great book for classrooms, libraries, and homes.

I especially liked that the author drew from his past experience to create the fictional mouse character, Meteor. I also was impressed with all the Internet Resources listed at the end of the book.

The author of this book is Astronaut Mark Kelly, the commander of the final mission of space shuttle Endeavour (May 2011.) His wife is Gabrielle Giffords.

This book is based on the author's actual experience along with a creative imagination. He also includes an "Afterword" explaining his first flight with mice on the space shuttle Endeavor along with other interesting facts and resources.

Heartwarming and inspiring. I highly recommend it.
