Summary of this Book...
A creative twist on the traditional Little Red Riding Hood, this re-telling of Little Red proves to get the attention from boys as well as girls. Little Red is a scooter who enjoys driving around his neighbor-HOOD. One day, Big Blue Mama gives Red a basket of goodies (oil, new spark plugs, etc.) to take to Granny Putt Putt, who is feeling run-down. But when Little Red meets Tank along the way, he is talked into going to Zip's Auto Bonanza for a better quality of oil and plugs. In the meanwhile, Tank heads for Granny's and... well, you'll have to read the book to find out what happens next!
This type of Book is good for...
Boys and girls alike! Anyone who is a fan of the Car movies, too. Lots of excitement and entertainment going on here. Never a dull moment.
I especially liked... | ||
I loved the characters: Little Red (scooter), Granny Putt Putt (pink golf cart), Big Blue Mama (blue car), and Tank (monster truck)! They all have their own personalities and it works. This automotive theme will be sure to attract everyone in the family.
The author of this Book...
The author is Peter Stein. This is the first book written by him that I have read. Very impressive with all the creativeness! And much of that comes from the illustrator, too: Chris Gall. Good job, guys!
I recommend this Book because...
It's a win-win choice. Everyone in the family will be entertained by it for one reason or another. Between the text and the illustrations, there will be something to connect to, no matter what age or gender you are. I loved this new re-telling of the classic fairy tale, though I will always love the original, of course.
