Summary of this DVD... | ||
This is the miniseries about the OJ Simpson Case. It is fabulous, an unexpected masterpiece from beginning to end. All the acting is superb. I watched the Simpson Case from start to finish and sometimes I felt like I was being propelled back in time. They manage to find meaning in a crazy series of events that unfolded in 1994-1995 when football hero, movie star O.J. Simpson was acquitted by an L.A. Jury. The best performances (to me) come from Courtney Vance as Johnny Cochran, Travolta as Shapiro (I didn't realize it was Travolta, he was that good) and the best performance of all - David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian (the father of the reality TV weirdos). The only "off" thing was Cuba Gooding Jr as O.J. I just remember O.J. so vividly that I couldn't quite get there, but Gooding even does a good job with what he is given to do, which isn't all that much, acting wise.
I recommend this DVD because...
it was amazing. It is about 8 hours or so of amazing TV. I don't know how they did what they did, but I really felt like I got some aspects of the case from watching this that I didn't quite grasp 20 plus years ago.
Further Comments... | ||
This was great. I will write a blog post about what I feel about the case after watching the miniseries, but I am glad I bought the DVD. I don't do that all that often these days, but I will be happy to watch this one again. David Schwimmer as Kardashian was the heart and the soul of this miniseries. You don't often see a performance that good when someone is playing a person who was in the public eye as much as Kardashian was. Brilliant.
