I love this murder mystery series and always have. I am a faithful fan. I followed the first Barnaby (Tom) and now John in his adventures. Love the settings of the English Villages and the gentle humor throughout this well written series.

HOWEVER, things have changed and John Barnaby's brilliant canine companion, Sykes, is no more.

I am missing Sykes. That is the bottom line. I just started watching this on Netflix. I love the series. I only accepted John Barnaby because of Sykes. The new dog in town, Paddy, has big paw prints to fill. And, I liked Nelson, but I am keeping an open mind for the new Sargent. At least Ben Jones is returning this season for one episode. I changed it from 5 stars to 4 in honor of Sykes. Well, I read that the dog who played him retired and is 13 years old. This new Barnaby sure goes through medical examiners and partners (and now dogs) pretty quickly for me. I am not a big fan of change. Well, it's a fine show with great writing all the way through. We will see what we will see in future episodes, I guess.
