Summary of this Book...
This is the story of Jackie Kennedy's Irish assistant, who started work for her at the age of 18. She grew up in rural poverty in Ireland, but knew no other life until she came to the U.S. First working for a demanding divorcee, Mrs. Kennedy was a welcome change. Jackie Kennedy is sometimes demanding, but at all times likable and even lovable in this delightful and revealing memoir. It is one of the most sympathetic portrayals I have seen of her and her children and even of Mr. Aristotle Onaisis. I felt like if Ms. McKeon has negative things to convey she does it very gently, as in the case of Ted Kennedy who was a person I had occasion to observe first hand. I found myself readily agreeing with Ms. McKeon's observations about the Senator. I read the book in one day and found it to be intriguing and well written. I loved Mrs. Kennedy's sense of humor when it emerged. Brilliant!
