Summary of this Book...
This is a historical fiction book centering around three women involved with different aspects of World War II. It is told in the first person point of view from each one of the women. Caroline is a New York socialite, who is removed from the impact and devastation of the Nazi regime. She still wants to help wherever she can with charitable work and, finally, seeking justice. Kasia is a Polish girl who engages in espionage against the Nazis. She is sent to Ravensbruck, the horrific concentration camp for women. The third point of view is that of Herta, the monstrous female physician who does horrific experiments on healthy females at Ravensbruck. Their lives connect in unforgettable and incredibly moving ways. This was historical fiction at its best. I wanted a bit more vengeance against Herta, but I ended up feeling like a person like that gets what she deserves at a higher level than humans can manage. This was an engaging, riveting read that I wholeheartedly recommend.
