Summary of this Book...
The second in the seven-part Harry Potter series. I'm not reviewing the writing, I'm reviewing this edition, the illustrated one, here.
This type of Book is good for...
Harry Potter fans who would like to enhance what they have imagined in their heads, with illustrations.
I especially liked... | ||
1. The clever bits of layout-type illustration, like the de-gnoming of the Weasley's garden, (Ron throws the gnome across the page); and the spilling of ink when the diary is unaffected -- there's an ink splot across the page except for one square. 2. Full page illustration of DOBBY on Harry's bed, and small illustration of Dobby hugging his sock. 3. Unusual depiction of Borgin and Burkes. 4. Double-spread illustration of Harry on a broomstick with Malfoy chasing him.
I didn't like... | ||
I could've done without the illustration of Ron puking slugs -- but actually, that was cleverly done, so I'll allow it to the illustrator!
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
(Looking at the pictures) Look at it again, more slowly, savouring each picture.
This Book made me feel...
Like I own one more Harry Potter treasure!
I recommend this Book because...
It has a nice mix of styles, and gives plenty to gaze at.
Further Comments... | ||
This one was a pleasant surprise, and I'm glad I own it. I was, in fact NOT so pleasantly surprised with Prisoner of Azkaban. I feel I wouldn't have bought that one if I'd looked through it first. (A friend bought it for me online.) I've ordered Philosopher's Stone and am wondering how I'll feel about that!
