Summary of this Book...
It tells a story of two people, Frank and Helen, who meet during WWI/II and how they come to care for each other. Spoiler alert: they get married. And it tracks how war can cause misunderstandings and heart ache, and how love can truly transcend near anything.
This type of Book is good for...
Danni Daley Mackall fans, anyone that loves historical fiction or military fiction, will surely enjoy this.
I especially liked... | ||
How real the couple seemed. It didn't focus on just the happy romantic fluff. It also showed love is hard and needs to constantly be worked at for a relationship to succeed.
I didn't like... | ||
There is some violence, it is based during a major war{s] so that's to be expected. One character was really annoying but otherwise not much to say that hampered my reading.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
Thank the author for writing it.
This Book made me feel...
Emotional,very much so. It was easy to place myself in Helen's position and feel what she was going through.
The n/a of this Book... | ||
Really knew how to tie together the realities of war while still making you root for Frank and Helen to make it through it all.
I recommend this Book because...
It really shows a side of war that sometimes gets bypassed and it was interesting to read about and see the war from that perspective.
Further Comments... | ||
I believe the author wrote this based off her own parents and their story. So it was nice to see how that correlated.
