This suspense thriller is about an out of work actress who takes employment with a law firm. Her job is to entice married men to cheat on their wives. She doesn't do the actual cheating and turns the evidence over to the firm. Otherwise, in her life she is quite loose with the truth and with who she sleeps with.

Then, one day, she does her thing with a university professor who loves quoting Baudelaire. He turns her down but later his wife is brutally murdered. The police enlist her (Claire's) help in solving the murder but there are many twists and turns in this fast paced tale. She falls in love with her subject and has to deal with the growing realization that she, too, is a suspect.

I thought it sort of fell apart in the middle and never regained momentum. It just didn't fit for me because there were too many questions about things I read before like the incident with Rick, the guy before Patrick. That didn't make sense in light of what came after and his accusations were never really addressed. It made a difference in judging her behavior and in believing the ending. How could Frank still be there? This was never fully answered for me.

I will read her other book because I have it, but this one lost the plot for me. The writing was good and intense, but in the end the twists of the plot didn't hold together, unless I missed something major.
