Summary of this Book...
This is another book in the Maisie Dobbs Detective series. This one takes place during the time right after England declared war on Germany in WW II because of the invasion of Poland. So, it is set in September of 1939. Maisie is asked by someone from her past to investigate the death (and subsequent other deaths) of Belgian refugees. It leads to an unraveling of a mystery from WW I and ties back to that as all things seem to do. Maisie is back with Billy and Sandra and the rest of the regular characters, having returned home. I didn't think this was one of the best, but the situations with the characters seem very unsettled, as they do in times of war I guess. I am thoroughly enjoying the series as I like the regular characters and was happy to see them all returned to the fold after the tragedy of Maisie's husband and child's deaths. I look forward to reading more in the series.
