This book was a big disappointment. I love historical fiction, especially about WWII.

I found this to be a self conscious exercise in displaying the author's vocabulary, impressive at first and annoying as we went along.

After 50 pages of reading and reading ahead to the ending, I did not care what happened. This is the gauge I use to tell me whether to continue to invest time in the reading.

In sum, the book was boring and I did not care about the characters after 50 pages. So, I move on.
