Summary of this Book...
Maisie Fezziwig is a seventy-year-old ex-forensic examiner who wakes in the early hours of the morning to screams coming from outside. The next morning, she finds her neighbour dead and his wife missing. Unable to stay out of the investigation due to an extreme case of nosiness, she follows the clues to the murderer. This book is bland. The suspense isn't really there. The characters are dull and the plot one-dimensional. It was predictable. The biggest mystery, for me, was why I kept reading to the end. But, I did. It wasn't so bad I couldn't finish it. So, I guess there was a small part of me that wanted to find out who did it.
This type of Book is good for...
People who like gentle mysteries and easy reads. It's a quick read, I'll give it that.
I didn't like... | ||
The writing style is not great. Adverbs, adjectives, passive voice, purple prose. Everything we are taught to avoid in creative writing could be found in this book. It irked me. It could have been edited a lot more thoroughly.
This Book made me feel...
Disappointed. Like I'd wasted a few hours of my life.
The author of this Book...
Here is the real mystery. This woman is a New York Times bestselling author. How on earth can that be possible? She is not especially talented, or even that interesting. People must be seeing something I'm missing.
I don't recommend this Book because...
It's not very good. | ||
