Summary of this Book...
A lot of my friends have encouraged me to read this series. In particular, they cited the magic and creative use of supernatural elements, which I have to admit are pretty good. I like the fact that the series (at least of the two books I've read so far) focuses on a different kind of creature each time, and the noir-ish setting is right up my alley. Unfortunately, this book in particular felt like the quality of the procedural took a real backseat to those "cooler" elements. Murphy is a terrible cop, and Harry is a terrible P.I. The mystery itself is predictable, and the steps to get to the end tend to plod along and meander. I really want to love this series, but unless the actual procedural and character elements improve to keep pace with the supernatural elements, I'm not sure I'll be in this series for the long haul.
