I really enjoyed this book. It is the story of a middle-class woman who ends up in a car wreck on the bad side of town. She's lost her memory and doesn't know what she was doing there. Eyewitnesses say she was driving erratically and speeding through red lights. Close by, the body of a man who has been shot three times is found. How are they connected? And, what will the woman remember about her accident?

This is a great psychological thriller. The big question is who murdered the man, and why? The suspects are Karen, Brigid, and (maybe) Tom. I love how the reader doesn't know who they can trust. I found myself changing my opinion constantly.

The ending, for me, was a bit of a letdown. Yes, we have everything explained. It's not that far off from the conclusion I reached about 3/4 of the way through the book. It's also not very exciting. I expected more of a white-knuckle ride at the end. But, it just kind of ... ended.

Grip-lit fans. This has a great hook and it does keep you pulled tight. It's an easy, quick read. A great beach read.

Brigid. She is a great character! She's so unhinged, and I love her closing thoughts.

The explanation of who shot the man and why. It was a little flat.

I really like Shari Lapena. This is the third book of hers I've read. I don't think she's the best writer in the world. In other words, I don't think her writing ability is the most beautiful. But, she does weave a great, psychological plot. She always keeps me guessing and trying to figure out where her books are headed.

It's a quick, easy read. And very enjoyable, to boot.
