Summary of this Book...
In this acidic bit of historical fiction, the author probes Truman Capote and his problematic relationships with the group of New York socialites he befriended in the 1950s and 1960s. He was a rising author and when he wrote his brilliant book, In Cold Blood, he became more famous than all his friends put together. He used his fame to betray them and humiliate them in the end. The book made me sad for Babe Paley. Not so much her conniving friends, but what he did to her was pretty brutal and she was dying at the time he did it. It made me feel like Truman Capote had the life ending that he deserved and I was glad he never won the Pulitzer that he coveted. It took me a long time to get through this book, although I thought it was pretty well written.
