In Your Dreams by Kristan Higgins
I had actually read this book 5 years ago and forgotten about it. It was just as wonderful the second time around. This is part of the Blue Heron Series. It is book #4. This is Emmaline Neal and Jack Holland's story. Emmaline needs a date to her ex-fiancée's wedding. Jack Holland is a wonderful guy who is willing to stand in as her date. Emmaline is the town's deputy. Jack Holland it the son of the local family that has a winery in the area. Jack is dealing with not being able to save one young man from drowning... he managed to pull three other boys from the freezing January water and they lived, but the teenage driver is in hospital on support. Not being able to save the boy is causing Jack a great deal of trouble emotionally and he is only too eager to head to California - across to the other side of the States - and be her date at her ex-fiancée's wedding.

Those who like romances and following a series of characters as they find their own special person. This is book four of this series.

Getting to know these characters - they are flawed, but lovely.
