Summary of this Book...
This book appealed to me, but I did not enjoy it. After reading 75 pages, I didn't care about what was happening. There was too much introspection and by that far in I felt that the character from Nazi Germany (The German Girl) of the title should be on the ship already. There is a back and forth between a modern day relative that was distracting. It didn't tie together for me and I felt like if after that many pages and that much time, I wasn't looking forward to reading it, I didn't need to continue. So, I didn't finish the book. I typically enjoy historical fiction, but when I read a book, I want to continue reading and returning to it. This did not happen here. Maybe I was in the wrong mood to read it, that's possible, but I donated the book to the church and moved on to something else that was more interesting.
