Summary of this Book...
This book was very entertaining. It is the story of an interior decorator to the rich and famous who follows her husband's dream of moving to the low country of South Carolina. They pretty much live at the pleasure of her rich clients as the husband has no say in the financial health of their relationship. The idea of hanging on like that and having it work out is something not so admirable, but it makes for a funny, lopsided friendship of sorts. They go on trips way beyond their means as sort of hired friends and then everyone misbehaves. The beauty of Ms. Frank's books lies in the situational observation she makes about the bad behaviors of her characters. There is a lot of humor and satisfaction to be had in just deserts. This book was mildly entertaining, but not one of her best. There is too much not to be admired in all of the character's behaviors. And living large while professing major money concerns seems quite out there to me. It was confusing - either they are rich and can afford to fly everywhere or they aren't. Depending on the friends seemed to get old to me and I wanted the main characters to somehow make it on their own. It seems like they need the rich guy to do it. I didn't like it even though it might be a realistic portrayal of hangers on.
