Home Economics Household and Personal Management Skills is an easy and precise way to help train up your daughters in the art of homemaking. It is presented in weekly format and gives you all of the information and tools necessary to teach for one semester of school. It begins with the basics and builds upon each skill with new levels of learning. It is meant to equip your daughters to give them purpose and know-how in the home. It will teach them everything from how to properly make a bed, to basic skin care, how to write a cover letter, how to set personal goals, and how to create a surprise box to entertain young children. Our goal is to confidently train your daughter so that they can be effective in life.

My Thoughts
A homeschool course on life lessons every teen should know before leaving home.

It's targeted it at homeschooling families, but public school families could still benefit from it. Although it's not secular, it's not heavy on religion either. I can't see it being used in a classroom setting, but Amazon reviewers have.

If I were teaching this, all I would need to do is follow along. The lessons are short and laid out with easy to understand information. The end of the week is comprised of a quiz and demonstration to show what was learned. She's even provided an end of year test.

Unit 8 talks about sewing and mending clothing, which is a rarely mentioned skill.

Although there is detailed instructions on cleaning different areas of the house, I feel like there's too much focus on cleaning and not enough on topics such as life after high school. She mentions "being a CEO" but doesn't discuss the educational path needed to work in any type of field. Likewise, Unit 12, Personal Finance, only contains a few paragraphs, one being a warning that credit is a myth to be ignored. She tells you what to do, but doesn't tell you why. Honestly, I'm not sure how much experience the writer has when it comes to money.

Like her previous book, this one is full of grammar errors and misspellings. Those issues make Home Economics Household and Personal Management Skills look like an unreliable resource written by an amateur.

The units sometimes contain topics that are unrelated and don't really go in the order I'd expect. Although Unit 7 is about hygiene, womanly advice about PMS is in the last unit, 18, just before the final assessment.

I'm curious to see if Amazon will refund my money due to a lack of editing. I'm also wondering if I should offer my editing services to the writer.

Honestly, this brought up some anger. Having read Life Skills for Young Men, it's very clear that her opinion is that girls should do all the cleaning and babysitting while boys get to go camping and play sports. In my opinion, both sexes should be taught the same life skills. How they choose to use that information is up to them.

In this book, you can really tell she just copied and pasted the same information from her blog posts. There's not enough detail to be used as a legitimate curriculum.
