Summary of this Book...
This is the second in Julia London's "A Royal Wedding" series. I had enjoyed the first book so much that I was looking forward the the second but it was a great disappointment to me. The first book was delightful and introduced this book's heroine, Caro aka Lady Caroline Hawke. I kind of liked Caro in the first book (a funny and generous BFF character) but I did not like her at all in book two. The second book (the one I'm reviewing here) started out with Caro plotting ways to steal the spotlight from her best friend on her BFF's wedding day! And then for the whole first half of the book (except when she was sick) she was mostly just self-involved, overly full of herself and, at least to me, annoying. Leo, aka Prince Leopold was also unlikable for most of the beginning of the book, although his redemption at least started earlier. So basically Caro and Leo don't like each other then have a bunch of misunderstandings and get in a heap of trouble and then fall in love... but (spoiler alert) before their happy ending it seems like they are going to be "tragically" separated for good and then in the last couple pages they have their happy ending. Which is the least fulfilling romance ending I remember ever reading... especially when followed by the epilogue, which was the worst romance epilogue I ever remember reading. Don't let this book throw you off Julia London though. She normally writes excellent and entertaining books. The first book is great. This one is terrible. I have to wonder if she was unable to write for some reason and someone else wrote it for her under her name so she could meet a deadline or something.

She also wrote the Pine River and the Lake Haven contemporary romance series.
