Firstly, I adore Dawn French. She is every kind of fabulous, and in reading her novel, I could hear her voice narrating it the whole way through.

The story is one of mother-daughter relationships. Two babies are born at the same time just rooms away from each other in the same hospital. But only one baby survives the birth. So, when the childless mother spies the parents of the other baby asleep in their room, she slides in and steals their little girl.

The story moves on to the point where this all comes out into the public. But Hope, the mother who stole baby Minnie, has been a fantastic, loving mother. So, how will Minnie react?

By the time Hope told Minnie the truth, I really wanted the police to give her a light sentence because she had been traumatised after her own daughter's stillbirth. And, at the very end, I actually shouted, "What? No!!!" at the book. It is so sad, but also really uplifting. Love is the key. It is the thing that runs through every page of this book.

Just a quick note about Dawn French's writing. It isn't the most clever and complex. She uses adverbs and adjectives all over the place. She tells a lot when, so we are told, she should be showing. But it doesn't matter. The story is sweet and light, and Dawn's voice shines through.

People who like a feel-good book. It would be a great beach read.

The love that every female characters has. Also, Quiet Isaac is simply adorable. It's impossible to read this book and not feel a little warm and fuzzy afterwards.

Dawn French. Most awesome. She writes as she speaks, and that is a joy to read.
