Meg Murry and her brother, Charles Wallace set off on an adventure to find their father who has disappeared. They take a friend along with them, Calvin O'Keefe. Together, with the help of Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which they travel beyond Earth. They see sights that are quite beyond regular understanding. Eventually, they go to a planet that is holding Mr. Murry captive. Meg learns that though she loves her father, he is not able to solve every problem. She is the only one who can save her little brother from IT.

This is a book for people who enjoy sci-fi fantasy novels. It is also considered a children's book -9 to 12 year olds.

The main character is a girl who is flawed, but able to overcome and find success.

This is the first book of a series which I will enjoy reading.

The author of this book has won awards for her writing.

Madeleine L'Engle is an award winning author who is able to craft a compelling plot and a rich style. She is able to incorporate universal love, individual caring and the need for the joy of living.
