Summary of this Book...
If you are a water baby like I am or you just like the water, you will like this story as it is all about the Thames. Setterfield follows the lives of several families and their interaction with the river, how it impacts them and those they love. One of the characters is a photographer (based on Henry Taunt, 1842-1922) and the reader learned a lot about photography during that time period. This character's boat is even named the Collodian after a photographic process. Much factual information is weaved into the story with the most important being how immersion in icy water can mimic death, yes, intriguing and as a story line, it is made that much more interesting. Although I would highly recommend the book, I gave it a 4 star rating because I felt the plot dragged at some points and there were a lot of characters to keep track of. But the book was long enough that eventually all the characters became well-known to the reader. I did not skip over any part of the book although at times I was in a hurry to get to the next "action".
