Summary of this Book...
Bridget Jones is a single woman, and she's not too happy about it. That situation changes when she gets involved with her boss, the charming Dan Cleaver. The other man she keeps running into - usually in less-than-desirable circumstances - is Mark Darcy, who she initially isn't too keen on. When Cleaver turns out to be no good, and Darcy turns out to be impressive, Bridget has some choices to make.

I especially liked... | ||
Bridget Jones's Diary is, indeed, written like a diary. It's a great way of giving insight into the mind of Bridget. Little details such as the way she keeps track of her weight, and what she perceives to be her vices, make her more real and relatable to the reader. I also loved how the story did not just focus on Bridget's love life, but also her relationship with her parents and her friends. As someone who did not yet live in Britain in the 90s, the descriptions of middle class society were quite amusing.
I didn't like... | ||
Whilst Bridget's focus on her weight is one many women would relate to, it is somewhat sad that she sees herself as fat when, in reality, she isn't.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
Read the sequel! | ||
This Book made me feel...
There are books that feel like a warm hug. You snuggle up with them and happily jump into the main character's world, and it feels like home.
I recommend this Book because...
It is funny, warmhearted, insightful and a solid read. It also has a happy ending!
Further Comments... | ||
I could recognise myself in Bridget. To a certain extent at least. Her hopes, her insecurities, her occasional clumsiness, her not very great cooking skills... I think that many people will be able to relate to her because she isn't some perfect heroine. She's unapologetically Bridget. It reminded me that it's okay to be me. We all have flaws. That doesn't mean we're not worthy of respect. It definitely doesn't mean we're unworthy of love.
